Austenitic (300 series) stainless steels, especially types 304 and 316, are the material of choice in the food and beverage industry, but martensitic and ferritic (400 series) steels are also used. Stainless steel is advantageous because they do not affect the taste of the product, are easy to clean and sanitize to prevent food from being contaminated by bacteria, and are durable. In the food and beverage industry, stainless steel is widely used in equipment such as cookware, commercial food processing, commercial kitchens, grills, sinks, brewing beer, brewing wine and meat processing.
