403 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel with better heat resistance, high strength and hardness. It is mainly used for steam turbine blades and high-stress components, pulp mill bleaching systems, seawater treatment equipment, high-oil distillation towers and equipment, generally not up to food grade, and not used for tableware. Other applications include bushings, barrels, fasteners, valve components, missile rocket components and medical instruments.
